A current and valid boat licence with PWC endorsement is required to operate a jet ski anywhere in Victoria!

A marine licence allows you to operate a motorised boat in Victorian waters. You can also have your marine licence endorsed to operate personal watercraft (e.g. Jet skis).

You must hold a current marine licence to operate a registered vessel on Victorian waters.

There are two types:

1) General marine licence – required by anyone 16 years of age or over operating a registered vessel
2) Restricted marine licence – required by anyone over the age of 12, and under 16, who is operating a registered vessel.

ABC Boating

www.abcboating.com is the largest private provider of Australian PWC and Boat training. We’ve heard nothing but positive feedback from their courses and strongly recommend you book on a week day (that way you can go to VicRoads in Dromana afterwards to get licence course approved and get out on the water!). The duration of the course is 4 hours for $125 (+ PWC fee and VicRoads fee).
